Fillauer Companies Continuing Support of Veterans

Fillauer Companies, Inc. has a long history of supporting veterans. It all began during World War I when doctors at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee contacted George Fillauer, Sr., founder of Red Star Pharmacy (the predecessor to Fillauer), to share their need for artificial limbs for patients returning from war.

As Fillauer’s service of veterans continued, George’s sons, George Jr. and Carlton, joined the Armed Forces. During World War II, George Jr. flew naval transport aircraft in the Pacific Theater, and Carlton served in the Army’s orthopedic units at Letterman (US Army) General Hospital in San Francisco and Bushnell General Military Hospital in Brigham City, Utah. After the war, Carlton was hired by the National Research Council as a staff limb fitter to the Committee on Artificial Limbs. These combined experiences encouraged further expansion of the company’s Orthotic and Prosthetic services.

Today, Fillauer Companies, Inc. continues to manufacture and provide the most advanced orthotics and prosthetics for veterans and active duty men and women in the military. From in-services at VA and military hospitals, including Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, to hiring veterans, Fillauer Companies, Inc. is proud to support and honor the sacrifices made by our troops.

To all our veterans, we salute you.
