AllPro AllStar Jacky Hunt-Broersma Sets a World Record
We offer our sincere congratulations to our AllStar Jacky who recently set the world record for 104 marathons in 104 days, sporting her Fillauer AllPro prosthetic blade!
Jacky, who lives and trains in Gilbert, AZ didn’t always like to run. More than a decade after losing her leg to cancer at age 26 she laced up her running shoes and hasn’t stopped since! Starting with local half marathons and moving up to ultramarathons—she became the first amputee to run 100 miles on a treadmill in under 24 hours and was the first amputee to run the TransRockies mountain stage race in Colorado covered 120 miles in 6 days with over 20,000 feet of climbing. In her quest for the record, marathon 92 was the Boston Marathon followed by 14 more days of running. On Saturday April 30, 2022 she completed the last of her 104 marathons beating the current confirmed world record holder at 59 daily marathons by over 45 days, and while running with a prosthesis.
Jacky ran, not only to prove to herself that she had what it took to never quit, but to raise funds and awareness for the non-profit Amputee Blade Runners. Thanks to her dedication and the support of generous doners, of which Fillauer was one, she raised around $192,000 to help fellow amputees get the prostheses they need to participate in the sport.
” Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come. Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome. Then raise your head high and forge ahead knowing you’ve got this!” Jacky Hunt-Broersma
After taking a couple of well deserved days off she got right back on the treadmill. Her next challenge? Taking on the the Moab 240 for a second time. This 240-mile endurance run that circumnavigates the La Sal mountains and deserts of Moab. It’s considered one of the toughest races in the world, where runners ascend 28,893 feet – nearly the height of Mount Everest.
