Fillauer ETD2 Wins Design Award
Fillauer ETD2 Wins Design Award
The Utah Division of Arts & Museums’ Design Arts Program in association with the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art announced the winners of their 2022 design competition and chose to feature the Fillauer Motion Control ETD2 design in conjunction with the design firm Espiritu. The original design of the popular ETD is functional and multipurpose, but the metal hook formes an unnatural look and could be perceived as dangerous. The new design is more aesthetically pleasing, allows for easy viewing through the device for better dexterity with smaller objects and provided easier access for maintenance of the device.
”The new ETD2 challenges industry convention by defining an aesthetic and mechanical solution that accommodates for both the device use requirements and the users’ experiences.” – Design Arts Program
We are excited to see this industry award affirm that the ETD2 is not only functional as a standard terminal device, but that it follows design principles that keep the end user in mind. The ETD2 and ETD will be on display at UMOCA until September 30, 2022
The Utah Division of Arts & Museums’ Design Arts Program is dedicated to the promotion of excellence in the diverse fields of design in Utah. We strive to help the citizens of Utah see, experience, use, and value the art of design which surrounds us.
