Thrust Bearing Hip Joint Assemblies

Thrust bearing hip joints are most commonly used for Scottish Rite Orthoses, but can be used for other pathologies involving the hip. These are available in both fixed or variable abduction angles. Joint size is selected based on the patient’s weight and height (refer to the drawing). Abduction angles at 25 and 35 degrees correspond to bilateral hip abduction angles of 70 and 90 degrees respectively. The abduction angle of the femur is equal to teh joint angle plus 10 degrees.
