Wolfgang Stöckl
Meet Wolfgang, an extraordinary athlete who lives by the motto: “The word ‘impossible’ doesn’t exist.” Born on December 18, 1966, in Rothenstadt, near Weiden in Upper Palatinate, Germany, he lost his left arm in a traffic accident at just two years old. Determined to keep going, he grew up alongside his two brothers and discovered a passion for sports early on.
After dabbling in football and tennis, Wolfgang found his calling in shooting at age 13. He joined the national team in 1996, claimed numerous successes, and won a silver medal at the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney. Switching focus to cycling in 2004, he battled setbacks, including a serious crash in 2006 and a shoulder injury in 2010, but still excelled. In 2009, he became the first German champion in the 4000m track pursuit and earned the “unofficial world champion” title in MTB marathon. Throughout his career, he has relied on Fillauer Activity Specific devices to fuel his love for cycling, kayaking, climbing, and more.

He capped his international cycling career by completing the grueling Race Across America (RAAM) with his four-person team in 2012. Today, he explores scenic regions like the Dolomites and Gran Canaria by road, mountain, or gravel bike, always on the lookout for the next adventure. From home to the North Cape in 16 days to a single-day 503 km journey from home to Italy, Wolfgang’s achievements embody his belief that nothing is impossible. He credits his family, friends, and mentors for their unwavering support and hopes his story encourages you to chase your own goals with equal passion.
